Updated October 2026

If lunch matters as much as the wine, book Ananda Tours’ gourmet food and wine tour: oysters from Te Matuku Bay with organic wine at Kennedy Point (when the oysters are in season), olive oil at Allpress, a wine-paired tapas lunch at Casita Miro and a last tasting of beer, gin and whisky at The Heke, every tasting fee included, rated 4.9 from 310 reviews and from US$183 a person (checked October 2026). For lunch on the sand, Waiheke Wine Tours’ beachfront lunch tour eats at 372 in Onetangi.

Lunch on the beach

Map of the Hauraki Gulf with the ferry route from Auckland's Downtown ferry terminal to Matiatia on Waiheke Island, Oneroa and Onetangi, Cable Bay and Mudbrick near the ferry, and Stonyridge, Tantalus and Te Motu on Onetangi Road
Onetangi, on the island’s north coast, is where the beachfront lunches are; the vineyards of Onetangi Road are just inland.

Waiheke Wine Tours' beachfront lunch tour puts lunch between its tastings, at 372 on the Onetangi beachfront, with one glass of local wine; the listing allows an hour for it. Ananda’s Essence of Waiheke ends at the same restaurant, under the name Three Seven Two, with a one-course lunch. If a venue is unavailable on the day, both operators move you to another of the same standard. In the reviews of the beachfront tour, one guest in October 2026 complained that lunch was moved to another vineyard; another, in April 2026, was disappointed that warm bread and olive oil counted as one of the two courses.

Food first

The gourmet food and wine tour is the one where food leads: Kennedy Point’s organic wines with oysters and Waiheke honey, Allpress’s olive oil, a tapas lunch at Casita Miro and a finish at The Heke. It is not suitable for vegans or strict kosher diets; other diets are catered for if you say so before you travel. Waiheke Wine Tours’ Taste & Graze is the same idea with whisky: Mudbrick, The Heke’s brewery and distillery, and olive oil at Allpress Olive Groves, where the platter lunch is served. Its inclusions leave out the ferry, though its itinerary mentions one; confirm before booking.

Diets and ages

Every guided wine tour here is for adults 18 and over, except that Fullers360’s Taste of Waiheke takes 16 and 17-year-olds with a parent or guardian at the adult price. Tell the operator about allergies when you book: the gourmet tour, Ananda’s Essence of Waiheke and The Wine Tasting Company’s tours all ask for it, and Ananda’s gourmet and half-day tours are not suitable for vegans.
